The Oratory School
Welcome to The Oratory School website. The Oratory is a unique school. Blessed John Henry Newman, its Founder, was a brilliant, original man, who synthesised two traditions: Academic excellence with Christian pastoral care for the individual boy. As an Oxford Don, and a leader in both the Anglican and then Catholic Church of his time, these two themes dominated his packed life of writing and action.
His personal motto became the School's: 'Cor ad Cor Loquitur' ('Heart speaking to Heart'), and this flows through the life of the School. He wanted to establish an all-round education that encouraged development of body, mind and spirit, so vital for success and happiness. Oratory boys are known for their spirit and "can-do" attitude to life, nurtured in our Catholic family environment.
The Oratory School is the UK's only All Boys' Independent Catholic Senior Boarding and Day School with 420 boys aged from 11-18yrs with Catholic and non-Catholic families. Set in acres of beautiful Chiltern countryside on the Oxfordshire/Berkshire borders, the School is within easy reach of Heathrow and other major airports. We hope you will take the opportunity to visit us and we look forward to welcoming you.
