FitzAlan
FitzAlan is the most recently founded of the four senior Houses. It is named after Lord Edmund FitzAlan-Howard, an old boy of the school who became a distinguished public figure and was the first lay Chairman of the Governors. The House has a reputation for friendliness between the different year groups.
We have a good mix of different personalities among the boys, with scholars, overseas pupils, sportsmen, musicians, lively extroverts and quieter characters, all rubbing shoulders together.
In March 2005 the boys moved into the new boarding house accommodating both day and boarding pupils. The stylish bedrooms, centrally located Common Room and IT Suite has greatly improved the living experience for the boys.
The House are the current holders of the Rose Bowl, the big inter-house competition that is keenly contested each year. Boys in the house are very committed, willing and loyal to all house activities and ventures and the camaraderie is high.
The current House Captain is Tom Huysinga, who has younger brothers in Year 10 at the School and in Year 6 at the Oratory Prep School. He has two deputies in the House, Christian Whittaker (ex Head Boy at the OPS) who is Deputy School Captain and also Hugo Lau. Each year has a Sports Captain who helps rally and organise the troops in their respective year groups.
With four of my own children FitzAlan is a very family orientated House and a very friendly and supportive environment to live and work in.
