The Oratory School Enterprise Programme

The Oratory Enterprise Programme was born out of the need for the school to offer boys an opportunity to flex their entrepreneurial muscles. This program is open to all lower sixth formers and provides a vehicle to put their ideas into reality as well as making some profit, which they keep. The boys first of all start thinking about a business idea and develop this process with the aid of a School Business Advisor. Once they have decided on the their product or service, together with carrying out some market research they are then ready to formulate a draft business plan which will be presented to the ‘Dragons’. The ‘Dragons’ have the opportunity to test the entrepreneurs ideas and give them some advice about their plans. Those that enter the Dragons Den will not leave the experience with financial assistance, but approval to further pursue their own enterprise. All boys will continue to get important advice and assistance with each venture from the Advisors and document this business experience. They will learn a lot during the process, which for many will be their first business experience.
